Caregiver training at home and at school

Parent partnership, practical coaching, and meaningful outcomes

About this course

Learn to design and evaluate caregiver training within individualized ABA services, beginning with family priorities, meaningful goals, and everyday home routines.

Four modules focus on parents and caregivers at home, and one applies the process to teachers and collaboration between home and school. Work through fictional cases, practice behavioral skills training and coaching, and distinguish adult implementation from outcomes for the child. The course also addresses practical barriers, accessible communication, generalization, and maintenance.

What you will learn

  • Select meaningful goals and feasible practice opportunities with families.
  • Use instruction, modeling, rehearsal, and specific feedback to teach caregiver skills.
  • Measure caregiver implementation and child outcomes separately, and adjust supports using data.
  • Plan generalization, maintenance, and workable collaboration with teachers across home and school routines.
