GENERAL · FUNCTIONAL AUTONOMY AND ADOLESCENT TRANSITION

Functional autonomy and transition to adolescence

Autonomía funcional y transición a la adolescencia

About this course

Expand meaningful participation for autistic adolescents with different support needs. Connect everyday skills with communication, choice, privacy, well-being, and coordinated transition planning.

Twelve bilingual modules cover ecological assessment, observable goals, task analysis and prompt fading, accessible communication, self-care and puberty, personal boundaries, household routines and money, community participation, digital safety, school transition, and caregiver training.

Apply your reasoning to the fictional cases of Mateo and Valeria. Nine downloadable tables and a descriptive performance graph support assessment, teaching, fidelity, and review. Learn to distinguish increased task performance from safety, generalization, and maintenance; these fictional applications do not establish causal effects or prescribe a universal clinical protocol.

For professionals with prior behavior-analytic training. This course develops assessment and teaching decisions; it does not itself establish specialized clinical competence. Individual implementation requires relevant training, individualized assessment, consent, accessible communication, attention to participation and well-being, and coordination when needs exceed professional competence.

Planned learning time: 200 minutes of instruction and application, including integrated cases, plus approximately 20 minutes for the final assessment. These are planning estimates, not minimum screen-time requirements. No timers or time locks.
