From Data to Decisions

Collecting Accurate Data That Supports Treatment

A tally counter, stopwatch, interval grid, and blank graph frame represent different measurement tools; the cover does not display clinical outcome data.

About this course

Data allow the clinical team to examine patterns, evaluate progress, and make decisions about treatment. Inaccurate or incomplete data can make those decisions more difficult. This course helps RBTs practice common measurement methods, use observable definitions, summarize basic data, and communicate irregularities to the supervisor.

Learn through bilingual explanations, illustrations, fictional cases, and multiple-choice activities. These selected-response activities assess knowledge and case judgment; they do not demonstrate observed clinical implementation, authored-document skill, or crisis-response competence.

What you will learn

  • Match frequency, duration, latency, and interresponse time to practical observations.
  • Distinguish continuous and discontinuous measurement in fictional data-collection plans.
  • Given a fictional observation timeline, select correct partial-interval, whole-interval, and momentary time-sampling records.
  • Select the operational definition that supports consistent observation and identify why vague alternatives do not.
  • Calculate rate, percentage, and mean duration from sample data and select the correct result with units.
  • Identify missed observations, unclear definitions, and procedural deviations that reduce data reliability.
  • Select an accurate description of a basic graph trend without making an independent treatment change or causal claim.
  • Select a timely supervisor report of missing data, an unusual pattern, or an implementation concern.
  • Distinguish observed data from estimates or reconstructed values and select an honest missing-data record.

Assessment and completion: Complete all seven modules and their multiple-choice activities, pass the 20-question final assessment with at least 16 correct answers (80%), and confirm your learner information. Submit the course evaluation as directed. Final assessment time is separate from the 100 planned instructional minutes.

Completion documentation: After all course requirements are met and your learner information is confirmed, Bhavioral Academy automatically generates your completed official BACB PDU form (constancia) with the coordinator’s authorized signature, ready for immediate download. Taking both language versions does not provide duplicate credit.

Professional scope: Designed for RBTs with foundational behavior-analytic training who work under supervision. Follow the individualized plan and your supervisor’s instructions. This course does not replace required supervision, safety training, or direct observation of implementation.
