GENERAL · TOILETING ASSESSMENT AND INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORT

Toilet training in complex cases

Entrenamiento para el uso del baño en casos complejos

About this course

Develop individualized support for complex toileting concerns while protecting comfort, communication, and participation. This bilingual course helps behavior analysts distinguish daytime urinary continence, bowel concerns, initiation, and routine performance, then identify the health, access, environmental, and teaching questions each outcome requires.

Use fictional event records, six observation windows, and a descriptive percentage graph to interpret episodes, assistance, and observed time. Five downloadable tables support medical coordination, event recording, data review, support selection, and caregiver rehearsal. Consider implementation, well-being, and access alongside continence when reviewing progress.

Practice clinical decisions through the fictional cases of Rafael and Maya. Examine accessible communication, privacy, respectful care, individualized supports, and caregiver training. Recognize concerns requiring medical coordination and professional consultation; the course does not prescribe medication, fluid quantities, or a universal toilet-training protocol.

Designed for professionals with prior behavior-analytic training, this course develops reasoning and individualized support selection. It does not certify specialized competence in gastroenterology, urology, intimate assistance, or motor needs. Clinical implementation requires individual assessment, relevant training, consent, attention to child participation, and coordination when needs exceed professional competence.

Planned learning time: 75 minutes of instruction and application, including the integrated cases, plus approximately 15 minutes for the final assessment. These are planning estimates, not minimum screen-time requirements. The course uses no timers or time locks.
