Responsible supervision of RBTs and BCaBAs

Requirements, performance, feedback, and ethical decisions

About this course

Develop supervision that protects clients and supports verifiable decisions. Organize supervisory responsibilities, review ongoing supervision requirements for RBTs and BCaBAs, observe performance, and provide useful feedback.

Practice responding to notices and disciplinary actions, distinguishing allegations from effective restrictions, and preparing information for a BACB Notice of Alleged Violation when supported facts warrant it. Eight modules include guided readings, supervision calculations, feedback conversations, and fictional cases.

What you will learn

  • Organize supervisory responsibilities, capacity, and documentation while distinguishing ongoing supervision from certification fieldwork.
  • Calculate applicable RBT and BCaBA requirements and distinguish the 2027 BCaBA recertification transition.

  • Provide specific, two-way feedback and handle disagreement while maintaining clear performance criteria.
  • Respond to disciplinary restrictions, protect clients, and verify conditions before a supervisee returns to practice.
  • Distinguish supervised correction, reporting another person, and self-reporting; prepare a fictional reporting packet when warranted.
  • Evaluate supervision outcomes, documentation, maintenance, generalization, and transitions.
